Church of the Virgin Mary Basilica is one of the most famous of Polish churches and is the most important attraction of Krakow. This church, it's the first thing you'll notice when entering the market square.
This Gothic structure with two towers, was built in 1666. Basilica St. Mary's has a magnificent polychrome interior.
The guard on the tower every hour plays the trumpet. It has a historic meaning. It is the bugle call, a warning symbol in front of Tatars.
At the end of fifteenth century, the temple was enriched by European sculptural masterpiece of Late Gothic - The Great Altar - a famous work of Wit Stwosz.
