The Wawel Royal Castle is of great historical significance as a place from which kings ruled. When the capital was moved to Warsaw, the castle remained the coronation and burial place of kings.
The castle has a huge courtyard inside, with a magnificent view of the river Vistula.
Currently, the Castle is a huge museum. The exhibitions are divided thematically into sections: Royal Private Apartments, Rooms, Royal Crown Treasury and Armoury, Art East, Lost Wawel, the Royal Cathedral and Dragon's Lair.
